Throughout everything she has been through, she has always remained smiley and Lana and her family have kept her love of all things magical alive, as well as finding lovely new things that Lana is able to do. Her new favourite hobby is writing story books, which she adores doing whether she’s at home or in hospital, and Lana dreams of becoming a Children’s author! Lana is currently writing her own book and will also be spending a wonderful day in Cornwall with her favourite Author, Liz Kessler – Author of “The Tail of Emily Windsnap” and the “Phillipa Fisher” Fairy books. Lana and Liz will be having Cornish cream tea, sharing tips and ideas and learning about the secrets of becoming a successful writer! Believe in Magic will also be publishing Lana’s finished book, a real dream come true for her! Lana is so excited to have her first book published at just 8 years old and Believe in Magic are delighted to be fulfilling her dream!

Lana-Mae's Story

In November 2008, when she was just 5 years old, Lana-Mae was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, a condition that gives her too much fluid causing pressure on the brain, which affects just 1 in 100,000 people. She went from being a normal happy, healthy and smiley 5 year old girl who loved magic and playing Fairies, to having to deal with multiple hospital stays, huge amounts of medication, managing severe pain and countless operations, but this amazing little girl never lost her sparkle and is an inspiration to us all! Now 8 years old, Lana has had 28 general anaesthetics including lumbar punctures and lots of operations to put in her current shunt. With all her hospital stays and being so poorly, Lana has missed lots of school, parties and so many other magical times that all little girls deserve!
